Why Invest In Work Benches For Work Stations?

by Jamie Carpenter

Whether setting up a single work station in your own garage for home projects or arranging several work stations for production and assembly in a warehouse, your needs will be similar. You need work stations where tasks can be accomplished comfortably and safely. However, you may not have factored work benches into your plans. Here's why benches are crucial for any work station.

Easier Access and More Storage

When you have a work station, the assumption is that you or others will be working with tools, small appliances, and other equipment. However, a person cannot work with all of those things at once. Without a work bench, you or a worker will need to get up from the immediate task and walk toward the edges of the garage or the facility storage area to retrieve items when needed. That means quite a bit of time will be spent losing concentration, walking around and then re-focusing on the task at hand.

With a work bench, there is easier access to any of the equipment you or employees need; there's more storage too.  In fact, benches may be customized by the person using them. If you know that you'll need an air compressor and a few screwdrivers for your work, you can put them into bench drawers before you get down to work. If your employees come in at the start of a day, one bench drawer can serve as a storage place for their lunch and vehicle keys while other drawers contain the tools they'll use. This will cut down on water cooler chatter that often delays work in the morning.

Less Injury

Benches aren't only for sitting and storing equipment. When benches are in place, movement around the warehouse or garage will be limited because all supplies are stored in the work bench. That means that you or workers are less likely to end up slipping on a leak seeping from under a vehicle on the other side of the garage or warehouse floor. Cables and equipment being used in other parts of the space will be less likely to affect you or employees that are busily working. Injuries are less likely to happen.

Neck and back strain is also going to decrease with good work benches around. The height is adjustable and being able to sit for part of the day can relieve back pressure.

If you're setting up work stations, don't forget benches. They can decrease chances of injury and will give you or your employees the equipment you need to get to work. Check out a websitelike http://www.officefurniturebarnpa.com for more information and assistance.
